New blogging for 2011

January 13, 2011

HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS!

Hope you’ve all had a great start to 2011. We have decided to use the new year and new start in the studio to set up a new blog here on TUMBLR getagripstudio.tumblr.com

The pros to this are that you can now follow us and repost the things you like. We’ll let you know who they’ve been printed for (and link the photo directly to their website), what garments or paper they’ve been printed onto, and what inks they are.

It’ll also be the first place you here about events we’re putting on, workshops, and the latest from the studio.

There’s also still over a year’s worth of work you can plough through right here, and don’t hesitate to drop us an email if you’d like to know more about any of the jobs- whether it’s what ink colour something is printed in, or where you can purchase a print from an artist we’ve worked for.

Here’s to a great new year!

Screen Printing Workshop with Birmingham Zine Festival

August 19, 2010

As part of Birmingham Zine Festival, we are offering you the chance to come behind the scenes of GET A GRIP to print your own T-shirt at our workshop.

Over two hours you will print your own multi-coloured print using original images by the festival’s posterboy James Nash on our six colour carousel. After which, will end up with a totally unique T-shirt by choosing the placement and positioning of each separate image as you print to build up a design.

The workshop will be £20 per person and includes an organic 100% cotton EarthPositive T-shirt to print on with non-toxic waterbased inks.

The workshop will be held in our studio at The Custard Factory at 6.30pm Saturday 11th September, with an extra workshop on Friday 10th September subject to demand.

It’s open to all abilities- you don’t need to have printed before, and there will be an introduction into the screen printing process at the start.

To sign up please email you name and required T-shirt size (from ladies small to mens 2XL) to workshop@getagripstudio.com. Payment for the workshop will need to be upfront due to the limited spaces available.

Hope to see you soon!

Makeshift Symmetry

August 11, 2010

Makeshift Symmetry is the new label name for Fergrapid, an independent clothing label. We love the bold geometric designs Fergus uses, I especially love the T-shirts.

brightlycolouredtotebags

August 11, 2010

We printed these totes for fashion designer (amongst many other skills) Chrissie Fizz . I love the bright cotton colours in contrast to the simple white logo.

Jeepers Peepers!

August 11, 2010

Sadly burlesque night Jeepers Peepers in Newcastle is no longer with us, but instead of leaving quietly they decided to go out with a bang holding a huge party last month we hear was a great night. They commissioned us to reprint all the tote bag designs they had sold in the past.

How to…

August 11, 2010

The How To Project is the brain child of Mike Arnold who asked us to print the first items he has to sell on his website. Filled with links to inspirational websites and people, and even a nice blog post about us, it’s definitely a website to add to your favourites…

Electroacoustic Beasts

August 11, 2010

Birmingham’s Electroacoustic Sound Theatre, BEAST headed over to Berlin a few weeks ago for Interventionen 2010, a festival dedicated to Electroacoustic music and sound art. We printed these T-shirts on some amazingly soft 100% organic Okarma T-shirts for them. So not everything has to be on Gildan or Fruit of the Loom.

Mister Millerchip prints

August 11, 2010

Our friend Mister Millerchip popped by the studio last week to pick up some prints we’d done for him and told us all about the projects he’s currently working on, and some very exciting plans for the next year. We’re very happy to work with such a lovely fella, and you should definitely be on the look out for his art.

Our worthy competition winners

August 10, 2010

Last month we ran a competition with our favourite punk website PUNKTASTIC to win a fabulous prize of 50 T-shirts with a two colour print. We had some amazing entries and after much deliberation a design for WTFest has been chosen for the prize. We’ll be printing them over the next few weeks in time for the festival at the start of September.

T-shirts Misc.

August 2, 2010

So yeah, Sam went on holiday, then we put on a show, then we got into work and realised we have lots to print and are also weeks behind on blog posting. So to wet your appetite a bit (and to get a handful out of the way in one go), here’s some of the t-shirts we have done recently for various different bands and events…
